The Official Position of Everyone Who Has Been Here
THE SCREAK
MANIFESTO.
01THE JOB MARKET IS BROKEN. YOU ARE NOT.ATS filters, ghosting, ghost postings, inflated requirements, inconsistent processes — these are market failures. They tell you nothing about your worth.
02REJECTION IS NOT A VERDICT.One company's process on one day with one team under pressures you'll never see is not a judgment about who you are. It is a sample of one from a noisy system.
03YOUR TIMELINE IS NOT EVIDENCE OF YOUR WORTH.The median search takes longer than the culture admits. The shame of a long search is data about the market. Not about you.
04ANGER AT A BROKEN SYSTEM IS APPROPRIATE.You are not being negative. You are being accurate. Your frustration is a reasonable response to an unreasonable situation.
05REST IS NOT GIVING UP.Planned recovery beats unsustainable intensity that collapses every time. A deliberate day off is not quitting.
AND ALSO06YOU DO NOT NEED 200 COMPANIES TO SAY YES.You need one. One company, one role, one hiring manager who was already looking for someone exactly like you. That person exists. They have not found you yet.
07THE BRAIN THAT IS RESISTING IS NOT YOUR ENEMY.It is a prediction machine running on bad inputs from a broken system. The resistance is miscalibrated, not permanent. The calculation can change.
08ENDURANCE IS NOT A PERSONALITY FLAW.Staying in a hard search without external validation, without a clear timeline, without a guarantee — that is one of the more difficult things a person can do.
09THE SEARCH HAS BUILT SOMETHING YOU WILL KEEP.Market knowledge. Role clarity. Rejection tolerance. The ability to continue under uncertainty. None of these transfer to the resume. All of them transfer to the next ten years.
10THE JOB THAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU HAS NOT REJECTED YOU YET.Everything so far has been the wrong company, the wrong role, the wrong timing. None of it was the right one. The right one is still ahead.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE IN THIS.YOU ARE NOT DEFINED BY THIS.YOU ARE GOING TO GET THROUGH THIS.
